Bonds to 10
Today I will: find two numbers that make 10.
There are 7 green counters.
We need 3 more to make 10.
7 + 3 = 10
Count the counters. How many more to make 10? Complete the number sentence.
Complete.
Bonds to 10
Today I will: use bonds to 10 to solve stories.
Find all the bonds to 10. What pattern do you see?
When one number goes up by 1, the other number goes down by 1.
Read the story. Circle + or −. Then find the answer.
Lia has 7 stickers. She wants 10 stickers. How many more stickers does she need?
There are 10 birds in a tree. 4 birds fly away. How many birds are left?
Sam has 2 red pens and 8 blue pens. How many pens does he have altogether?
Fact families
Today I will: write 4 facts with the same 3 numbers.
The whole is 13. The parts are 9 and 4.
These 3 numbers make a fact family.
9 + 4 = 13, 4 + 9 = 13
13 − 4 = 9, 13 − 9 = 4
Write the fact family. (The last one has a missing part. Find it first!)
Fact families
Today I will: check if a fact is true or false.
Find the missing part. Complete the number sentences.
True or false? Circle one.
Mei has 11 marbles. 5 marbles are blue. The rest are green. How many marbles are green?
Now write the fact family for 5, 6 and 11.
Bonds to 100
Today I will: use bonds to 10 to make 100.
4 tens and 6 tens make 10 tens. 10 tens = 100.
4 + 6 = 10, so 40 + 60 = 100
Each box is 10. Complete.
Complete.
Solve the stories.
A box can hold 100 pencils. There are 70 pencils in the box. How many more pencils can go in the box?
Mo scores 40 points. Lia scores 60 points. What is their total score?
Add and subtract 1s
Today I will: add or subtract ones from a 2-digit number.
34 has 3 tens and 4 ones.
4 ones + 3 ones = 7 ones.
34 + 3 = 37
Only the ones digit changes!
Look at the picture. Complete.
Complete.
Complete the patterns. What do you notice?
Solve the stories.
There are 25 books on a shelf. Lia puts 4 more books on the shelf. How many books are on the shelf now?
There are 38 people on a bus. 5 people get off. How many people are left on the bus?
Add by making 10
Today I will: split a number to make 10 first.
8 + 5
Partition 5 into 2 and 3.
8 + 2 = 10. Then 10 + 3 = 13.
So 8 + 5 = 13
Make 10 first. Complete.
Make 10 in your head!
Lia has 9 crayons. Her friend gives her 5 more. How many crayons does Lia have now?
